Vancouver’s Dasha Maslennikova, owner of Symmetrix Exercise & Rehab earns the 2021 Kin of the Year award from the Canadian Kinesiology Alliance.
VANCOUVER, B.C. (November 28th, 2021) — Vancouver’s Dasha Maslennikova, has won Kin of The Year as recognized by the Canadian Kinesiology Alliance (CKA). The award is for kinesiologists, individual or team, who have demonstrated significant leadership and achievement in the field of kinesiology while making positive, sustainable contributions to help Canadians move better.
Dasha is the owner of Symmetrix Exercise & Rehab, Vancouver’s first kinesiology-only studio. The Kin of the year award recognizes her achievement in expanding her one-of-a-kind kinesiology-only business. Dasha and her team recently opened a new, purpose-built kinesiology studio in downtown Vancouver, complementing their 2nd studio in Burnaby.
Dasha is being recognized for her commitment to advancing the field of kinesiology by championing industry-leading regulations and promoting them widely. Her new studio complements Vancouver’s growing kinesiology job market, offering employment for Canadian kinesiologists in a progressive and equitable setting. Currently, Dasha leads a team of 8 kinesiologists and 2 support and administrative staff, most of which are women, and includes immigrants, queer people, and people of colour.
“My drive to balance mind and body are at the core of what I do,” Dasha says. “I built my practice on the principles of kinesiology, and with the support of my incredible team we’ve been able to help so many people improve their quality of life. My mission is to increase the average quality, and length, of life for British Columbians. We’ll be able to do this when the public has better public access to kinesiology for injury rehab, and even just to improve function and live better! I’m super honoured to represent our team and get recognized for our work in helping our community do more movement and get back their activities. I love that we use the science of exercise and movement every day, and we get to help everyone in our clinic that way.”
“We are delighted to have a kinesiologist from BC acknowledged for her dedication to the profession and empowerment of her clients towards better health.” said Daryl Reynolds, Executive Director of the British Columbia Association of Kinesiologists. “As kinesiologists in BC look to the government for professional regulation, the BCAK supports Dasha in her efforts to deliver quality healthcare services to the people of BC.
